A Biography of Sorts

|
 |
It is difficult to write about someone you've never met without seeming pretentious or presumptious, or
even assuming. Ninety-five percent of the things you think you may know about them may not even be true. In the case of Layne
Staley, the difficulties seem endless, as it is hard to write without true knowlege. For the one who has attempted to try,
it was done without purpose, and without dignity. Now those who attempt to write about him are generally mistrusted.
Layne's life was short but influential--in every area of his life. He deserves to be written about
and remembered, but in a manner befitting the extent ot his privacy (which runs very deep). To write about Layne is to use
caution and discretion, without oversensationalizing his story or its details. And it is to this end that I shall strive in
trying to put together an honest biography.
